Oh ok,.. so Gary have you ever thought about getting a ham license. Much more reliable way of communication VS CB radio.

Don't really know anything about using a ham radio, or how to get the license. What does it cost to buy, radio, license, and is there any up keep expense associated with owning one?

The entry level (Tech) license is a 35 question multiple choice exam. Some of it is common sense a lot of it is rules and regs and operating procedure. Lots of stuff can be done talking on repeaters (like cell phone sites) even more so when they are interlinked. The radio you can get a cheaper dual band hand held for about 120 bucks. I have talked to Canada and England as well as all around the USA on a system as described and it all can be done crystal clear (FM) without all the noise and stuff you get on AM CB where everyone is stepping on each other. If you look in this thread area you will see more info about getting a license (15 bucks) as well. The license is good for ten years. Their is no up keep on the equipment. Once you have the stuff that's it. The study book is 21 bucks and easy as hell the way it's taught. Even a kid or stupid truck driver could do this...LOL... A class A license for driving a truck is harder trust me.
